Duncan Lewis Takes Over as Chairman of Cube Optics AG

Mainz, Germany - Cube Optics AG, the supplier of engineered components and access network solutions to the telecommunications industry, has named Duncan Lewis as its new Chairman of the Board.


With several senior executive roles in the telecommunications industry under his belt, most notably with Equant, GTS, British Telecommunications and Cable and Wireless, Duncan brings a wealth of telecommunications experience to Cube Optics.

From its headquarters in Mainz, Cube Optics is commercially exploiting a range of optical components and modules, based on its low-cost active/passive integration platform, tailored to the demands of the access network. The company is enjoying significant revenue growth driven by the rising demand in telecommunications, cable, and video distribution applications.


On his new role, Duncan commented, "I am enormously excited to be working with Francis and his team, who have developed a range of products strongly positioned to meet the cost and performance requirements of broadband access networks."


Duncan Lewis was Chief Executive of GTS/Ebone Inc. which was sold to KPNQwest in April 2002. He was previously Managing Director of Equant which he joined in 1997 prior to IPO. Duncan navigated Equant through two secondary offerings and subsequently led its sale to France Telecom at the end of 2000. Prior to joining Equant, Duncan was Chief Executive of the Granada Media Group, held various international management positions at Cable & Wireless before becoming Chief Executive of Mercury Communications, and held several management positions at BT. In addition to a select number of other board roles, including Alan Dick and Completel, Duncan is Senior Advisor to The Carlyle Group in the TMT space.
