Mainz, Germany - In response to strong and broad-based market demand, Cube Optics AG has completed a strategic financing round that will enable it to commercially exploit its next-generation of optical networking products.

Cube Optics AG, a supplier of ultra-compact components and tailored access solutions to the telecommunications and data networking industries announced an investment from existing shareholders including The Carlyle Group, Sevin Rosen Funds, Star Ventures and Target Partners. From its headquarters in Mainz Germany, Cube Optics designs, manufactures and distributes a range of optical components, modules and architecture specific solutions tailored to the requirements of optical access networks. Cube Optics’ core products are compliant with Telcordia outside-plant standards.

Francis Nedvidek, CEO of Cube Optics AG commented: “The major telecom, fiber-to-the-home, ISP, enterprise and cable television/hybrid fiber cable network operators view deployment of 100Gb fiber networks as critical to satisfying the relentless growth to higher data transmission volumes and overcoming impending bandwidth bottlenecks with expansion of data transmission capacity.

“Having successfully established our WDM Access and PON solutions with telecom, FTTH, CATV and HFC network operators, Cube Optics is scaling operationally in response to significant growth in demand for its products. This financing enables us to reinforce our position as a key value chain partner for transceiver OEMs and will support us in building a new long-term revenue stream tied to next generation multi-wavelength 10km 100Gb (4x25G) Ethernet interfaces.”

Dr. Nedvidek added: “Our shareholders have demonstrated their strong belief in the value proposition and strategy of Cube Optics. The company currently delivers its portfolio of access solutions globally and the team is now poised to integrate Cube Optics’ micro-miniature optical platforms with high data rate electro-optics to address emerging markets for multi-wavelength LAN WDM transponder components and configurations. Mass adoption of rich content together with delivering new business and consumer service offerings such as IPTV, peer-to-peer video services and remote data backup, will depend on these next generation fiber network components.”
