The Carlyle Group Invests in Indian Hospital and Healthcare Provider Global Health Private Limited

Investment Supports Hospital Expansion and Contributes to India’s Healthcare Industry

Mumbai, India – Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) today announced that Anant Investments, an affiliate of Carlyle Asia Partners III, has made a strategic minority investment in Global Health Private Limited, one of the largest hospital and healthcare providers in India, including acquiring a significant equity stake held by an affiliate of Avenue Capital Group. Financial details were not disclosed.

Led by Dr. Naresh Trehan, a renowned cardiac surgeon in India, Global Health operates a 900 bed hospital (expanding to over 1,300 beds) in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi providing super-specialty care in cardiology, neurology, gastro, liver transplant and orthopedics with prominent doctors in each field.  Global Health owns, manages and operates the super-specialty hospital ‘Medanta - the Medicity’ located in Gurgaon.
