The Carlyle Group Names Boris Okuliar Head of Capital Markets for Global Market Strategies

Credit and Banking Executive Will Also be Head of
Capital Markets for Carlyle GMS Finance, Inc.


Washington, DC – Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) announced today that Boris Okuliar will join the firm as Head of Capital Markets for Global Market Strategies, a newly created position. He will also be Head of Capital Markets for Carlyle GMS Finance, Inc., a Business Development Company targeting middle market lending.


Mr. Okuliar joins Carlyle from UBS, where he was Managing Director and Head of Leveraged Capital Markets, in London.  Mr. Okuliar begins his duties in early February and will be based in New York.

As Head of Capital Markets for Global Market Strategies, Mr. Okuliar will support select strategies across the GMS platform. In addition, as Head of Capital Markets for Carlyle GMS Finance, Mr. Okuliar will primarily focus on sourcing leveraged finance investment opportunities from banks and financial sponsors across the U.S.


Mr. Okuliar was most recently Head of Leveraged Capital Markets for UBS in London, where he was responsible for the structuring and market execution of leveraged loans, bridge financing and high yield bond placements and was a member of the Credit Commitment Committee. Prior to UBS, Mr. Okuliar worked for Barclays Capital, where he became Head of High Yield Capital Markets and Syndicate in London. He also worked for Banc of America Securities in Syndicated Finance and High Yield Capital Markets in the US and London. He began his career in Global Syndicated Finance at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York in 1997. Mr. Okuliar, 37, earned his BS/BA from Georgetown University in 1997.

The platform includes: mezzanine and energy mezzanine loans; high yield and structured credit; distressed equity and debt; and four hedge fund strategies (long/short credit, emerging market equities, macroeconomic and commodities).
