The Carlyle Group Appoints Emma Thorpe as Director of European Communications

London – Global private equity firm The Carlyle Group today named Emma Thorpe as Director of European Communications. Emma joins Carlyle’s Global Communications team from Penrose Financial, a European financial services public relations agency, where she was an Associate Director. She is based in London, and is responsible for communications across Europe and begins her new position immediately.

Ms. Thorpe, who reports to Director of Global Communications Chris Ullman, succeeds Katherine Elmore-Jones, who has joined The Carlyle Group’s Investor Relations team.


Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Thorpe was an Associate Director focused on private equity and financial technology at Penrose Financial. Before that she served as a Senior Account Manager at financial services public relations agencies, Weber Shandwick and Cognito, and political communications agency, Media Strategy. Previously she was Parliamentary Researcher to Matthew Taylor, Member of Parliament for Truro and St. Austell and Constituency Researcher to Dr. Evan Harris, Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon.


Ms. Thorpe, 31, has a B.A. Hons in philosophy, politics and economics from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University.
