2010-053

New York – Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group today announced it has completed the purchase of the management contracts on $4.2 billion in CLO assets from Stanfield Capital Partners LLC, a fixed income asset manager based in New York. Financial terms were not disclosed. The purchase agreement was first announced in April and was subject to investor consent, which has been received.

The transaction, part of a broader strategy to expand the scope and depth of Carlyle’s global credit alternatives business, increases Carlyle’s credit AUM to $16.8 billion. The 11 CLOs are invested primarily in non-investment grade corporate loans.

With this consolidation, Carlyle is now one of the world’s largest structured credit managers and we continue to make scale and diversity the hallmark of our product offerings.”

Linda Pace, Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Management for Carlyle’s structured funds, said, “We are pleased with how smoothly the consent process went. By working together with Stanfield, we closed on all 11 funds ahead of schedule and with overwhelming support from debt and equity investors. With a focus on risk management and client service, we will strive to maximize returns and protect investors’ capital.”
