RiHappy announces purchase of PBKids

Sau Paulo, Brazil - It is with satisfaction that Ri Happy, retailer of toys and accessories for kids founded in 1988, announces the acquisition of PBKIDS. Ri-Happy’s main shareholder, The Carlyle Group, a global alternative asset manager, also controls in Brazil CVC, a tour operator, Qualicorp, broker and manager of health plans, and Scalina, manufacturer and retailer of intimate apparel.


Together, Ri Happy and PBKIDS will seek to improve access to innovation and become more agile distribution channels using best market practices. Employees will be maintained, preserving the tradition and the concept of enjoying the two companies in the consumer market. The purpose is to add strength and experience. Leading the company in this new stage will be Hector Nunez, CEO of Ri Happy, who was in front of Walmart in Brazil and has held leadership positions at Coca-Cola, Sucos Del Valle and Hertz, in Brazil and abroad.

The toy retail sector has annual sales of R$ 5 billion, growing three times the Gross Domestic Product. Today, sales are distributed in various channels, including supermarkets, department stores, wholesalers, internet sites, as well as specialized retailers such as Ri Happy and PBKIDS, that strive for excellence in customer service. Therefore, by acquiring PBKIDS, Ri Happy seeks to better satisfy consumer needs in terms of product assortment and quality of service.
