ACIS Appoints Phil White as Chairman

London – ACIS, the U.K.’s largest supplier of Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) systems, today announces that Phil White, the former Group Chief Executive of National Express Group, has been appointed as Chairman of ACIS’s Board of Directors.


This announcement marks the coming together of ACIS, recently awarded as one of the U.K.’s fastest growing technology companies, and Mr White who is one of the U.K.’s most experienced and respected transport industry executives.


ACIS leads the market for RTPI on buses and at bus stops across the U.K. providing IT infrastructure and fleet management systems for bus operators and local authorities. The Company is currently partnered with fifty local authorities, supporting their transport needs with its ‘BusNet’ system which monitors and manages large fleets of buses and provides real time information to passengers. BusNet delivers improved levels of customer service and is an important cost and service-level management tool. The Company currently tracks over 7000 vehicles and delivers information in real time to over 30,000 information points. It employs 160 people and is headquartered in Loudwater, Buckinghamshire with R&D operations in Cambridge. ACIS acquired by its management team and Carlyle Europe Technology Partners, a fund managed by The Carlyle Group, in November 2006.


National Express is one of the World’s largest transport operators. Phil was Chief Executive of the National Express Group 1997-2006. During his 10year leadership he grew National Express into a major bus, coach and rail operator in the UK and also developed a large presence in North America and Spain, carrying more than one billion passengers worldwide. Phil is a Chartered Accountant and also serves on the boards of Lookers, Kier Group and Meridian Motor Group. He is the Chairman of the Business Advisory Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales.
