AxleTech International Forms Motorsports Group and Launches Portal Axle Conversion

Troy, MI – AxleTech International, a global manufacturer of axles, suspensions, brakes and aftermarket parts for off-highway vehicles, will begin producing aftermarket products for the off-road motorsports market. The first product offering, a portal axle conversion targeted at off-road motorsport enthusiasts, provides five inches of additional ground clearance and additional torque via a hub reduction of 1.5:1.

AxleTech International Motorsports launched its portal axle conversion at the 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV. The initial targeted application for the portal conversion is the Dana 60 axle with other popular axle applications to follow in 2009. AxleTech’s portal conversion is the only system to feature a four gear arrangement, which eliminates the need for reverse rotation gearing in the differential carrier. AIM’s system leverages the company’s extensive experience with central tire inflation systems (CTIS) to provide the only truly tested aftermarket CTIS-compatible portal wheel end.
