The Carlyle Group Appoints Eric Faillenet Principal for Carlyle International Energy Partners

With 20 years’ Experience in the Energy Industry, Mr. Faillenet Will Help Carlyle Grow International Energy Platform


London, UK – Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) today announced the appointment of Eric Faillenet as a Principal in Carlyle International Energy Partners (CIEP). Mr Faillenet brings 20 years of experience in the energy industry, most recently as Africa Regional Manager for oil and gas company Perenco.  Mr. Faillenet will be based in London.

Mr. Faillenet worked for 20 years in a variety of roles at Perenco, in Africa, Latin America and the UK.  During his career at Perenco he held operating positions as well as positions in business development and acquisitions and divestments.


Mr. Faillenet earned his Engineering Degree from Ecole Centrale, Lyon, France, and his MSc in Electronic Control Engineering from Salford University, UK.


The CIEP team makes investments in all parts of the energy value chain, including exploration and production (E&P), refining and marketing (R&M), and midstream and oil field services (OFS) in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia.


CIEP is a key component of Carlyle’s global energy platform ($28 billion in AUM), which includes a strategic partnership with NGP Energy Capital Management (E&P investing in North America); Energy Mezzanine financing; energy infrastructure & power generation (Cogentrix); commodities (Vermillion); and the firm’s buyout capabilities in transactions such as Philadelphia Energy Solutions and Kinder Morgan.
