Google Signs Contract in Skt. Petri Passage, Copenhagen

2011-002

Google has just signed a lease contact with The Carlyle Group, securing Google the letting of 1,250 m2 of office space at Skt. Petri Passage in central Copenhagen for establishing Google’s Danish headquarters. These historic premises include the former headquarters of the Danish phone Company (TDC), and with the new letting to Google, The Carlyle Group has leased out more than 80 pct. of the buildings total square footing of 49,000 m2.

Google has signed papers with The Carlyle Group securing Google the letting of 1,250 m2 office space at Skt. Petri Passage which is located at the historic Latin Quarter in central Copenhagen. This means that Google, come summer 2011, will establish its Danish headquarters in a newly restored building with lots of history.

“Skt. Petri Passage has been modeled on our vision of creating a new neighborhood in central Copenhagen which draws the attention of an attractive mix of future office tenants, and we look forward to welcoming Google on the new premises this summer,” says Anders Hörnqvist from The Carlyle Group.

A large area
Nearly three years ago The Carlyle Group purchased Skt. Petri Passage which covers an area from the old TDC headquarters in Nørregade to Larslejsstræde all the way to Nørre Voldgade. Since the purchase, Carlyle has completed a massive restoration of the 49,000 m2 building. With the Google contract, around 80 pct. of the office spaces are now occupied.

“Skt Petri Passage is generating a lot of interest, not least due to its unique location and the charm of the buildings supplemented by the nice courtyard environment. Adding to this, many of our tenants are attracted to the fact that Skt. Petri Passage offers them new accommodations on which they themselves have influence on the interior design, offering them great deal of identity and individualization,” says Anders Hörnqvist.

A few sq m still available
Of the remaining office area still not occupied The Carlyle Group offers three very flexible and lofty storages of 1,300 m2 each, which can be leased individually or as a unified domicile of 4,000 m2, and the building at Nørregade 29 which is an independent house with a total 1,250 m2 of office space.

CBRE, Global Corporate Service Team, has been consulting Google Denmark in the process of drafting the lease contract. Reyco have been strategic and operational partner in The Carlyle Groups letting of Skt. Petri Passage.
